THANKS TO ALL AYAMAFANATICS attending the live and web Auction.
16 June 2017 will be an everlasting memory in our hearts, one we will cherish and never forget! The Live Ayama Vermentino 2016 Auction was held at a decommissioned Anglican Church, called Roodebloem Studios. The dapper event was held in aid of the Perdjie School & After-School, to raise funds to buy a bus giving the chance to more kids to attend the school. It was a beautiful day. Clear, sunny skies, accompanied by a backdrop of Table Mountain- and no wind, the perfect day. Last minute preparations, and final details kept the team busy all early morning. Time passed by quickly as anticipation and excitement began to build. A red carpet awaited guests on their arrival, leading them to witness a truly historic event, but more so to personally introduce everybody to the maiden vintage.
Upon entering, guests were encouraged to sign a very special “guestbook”, registering their presence on the day. The guestbook will be a feature in our tasting room on completion of construction. Once registering present, guests were each assigned a Vermentino shaped bidding paddle which they could take home with them as a memento of the day. The auction stage was decorated in all the auction lots for the day.
The bottles were dressed in a tastefully designed gold embossed label, wrapped in a personalized stitched Vermentino placemats and encased in a beautiful wooden box. A short introduction to the Auction was made, highlighting the goals of the auction, followed by a very well behaved 10 kids from Perdjie appearing on the stand officially opened the proceedings. The kids were all amazing and smiled all the time patiently waiting for their pizza lunch all throughout the Auction.
The auction was energetically led by registered and accredited auctioneer, Kwanele Boltina, whom also, to our delight, has a bit of Italian blood in his family line. Consisting of 61 lots, comprised of 750mls, Magnums, Double Magnums, Jeroboams, and the exclusive maiden Vintage Collection, the auction was underway!! Wanting to get their hands on the much anticipated Vermentino vintage, guests were quick to bet, with many effortlessly rising to the occasion. Time passed by quickly and all lots were sold, including those on the web Auction, which was closing at 12 pm with displaying great results. Every guest received a customized certificate, stating the lot bought as well as their contribution towards the Perdjie School Loading operations were also very fast, meanwhile a little Italian food and Ayama Wines “entertainment corner” was keeping hunger and thirst under control while waiting for lunch, which was at PESCE Azzurro.
The menu was an amazing journey of Italian goodies. And, finally 6 magnums of the starring Ayama Vermentino were shared with the guests. The tasting of the much anticipated Vermentino wine was certainly not a disappointment… the quality of the wine was higher than expectations for all guests. Italian tradition wants for a special cake for each new born. Mille Foglie, “Thousand leaves” it is called, which was a traditional closing for a truly amazing day for our guests. -To all whom attended the auction, and also to those who took part in the web auction, we thank you for spending the day with us, and for also making it a truly unforgettable day!
